Skip is an influential force in the commercial real estate market and has been for over 35 years. Skip is the third generation in the Duemelands legacy; a history that began in 1905 as a pioneer in the real estate industry with the acquisition and sale of over one million acres of railroad land across the eastern portion of North Dakota.
Skip obtained his Bachelor of Science degree from North Dakota State University, Fargo and his MBA from the University of North Dakota, Grand Forks. Skip earned the Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) designation in 1987. As a CCIM designee, Skip is a recognized expert in commercial real estate. CCIM does upwards of 156,000 transactions annually representing over $400 billion worldwide. Skip is a past member of the CCIM Board of Directors and the CCIM Executive Committee. Skip was previously a guest of the Society of Exchange Counselors and is a Certified Exchange Advisor.
Skip learned the value of strong work ethics early on the family ranch. In the early days of his career, Skip worked on a ranch operation becoming President and CEO in the late 1980s. In 2004, Skip's daughter Jill was the fourth generation to join the family business. In 2006, Duemelands accepted the award for Small Family Business of the Year for North Dakota and in 2010 Duemelands received the Bismarck Area Excellence in Family Business Award. Another highly regarded accomplishment includes being inducted into the Exchangers Hall of Fame for the exchange of over $2 million.
During his extensive career, Skip and Duemelands have worked with the following national companies on the acquisition or leasing of various properties: FedEx Freight East, Inc., Yellow Freight, American Freight, Roadway Freight, Edward Jones, Tractor Supply Company, Verizon Wireless, Qdoba Mexican Grill, AEI Funds Management, Inc., Subway, and Applebee's. Most recently Skip accomplished a $9 million lease of a senior care center in Council Bluffs, Iowa; the sale of Apple Creek Ranch in Sterling, North Dakota for $2.4 million; $5 million purchase of a daycare and professional strip center in Woodbury, Minnesota; and brokered four Tractor Supply Company transactions in excess of $8 million.
In his spare time, Skip enjoys sailing, photography, golfing, and computers. Additionally, Skip is a licensed instrument pilot and a certified scuba diver.
